This beaker belongs to a popular type of German household glassware associated with festivities in which vessels were passed from one participant to another. The tall shape and spiral decoration have inspired other names—Stangenglas (pole-shaped glass) and Bandwurmglas (tapeworm glass)—that are commonly applied to this form.
